Default HBB belted booster on airplane?

We are travelling with The Biscuit by plane next week and will need a carseat or booster at our destination.

The Biscuit is up to 47 inches and 49 pounds. He rides FF in a Diono Radian in DH's car, in a Britax Frontier 90 in my car, and in a Recaro something or other in our convertible. However, he rides in a Graco HBB (I cannot recall make) in my ILs truck. We have an Evenflo Amp HBB booster for our sitters to use or to have for a spare when we transport a friend.

I am thinking that we will bring the AMP in a carrybag and gate check it and The Biscuit can just use the lap belt on the plane. We plan to use the AMP in our rental car; none of our drives will be over 30 minutes during the trip.

Sound like a plan? Or should (or even can) we bring the AMP on the flight with us and have him sit in it on the plane?

    TIA!

I could be wrong, I'm no expert, but I thought belt-positioning boosters were not FAA approved and couldn't be used on an airplane.

Just bag your AMP for gate checking it, as boosters cannot be used in an airline seat.

I would check it. Boosters can only be used when you have both a lap and shoulder belt, that is why they can't be used on planes
