    Default UK itinerary/advice??

We are heading to GB, Scotland, and Ireland for 2 weeks at the end of June to celebrate DH’s 50th Birthday! Excluding Canada, this will be our kids first international trip. Sooo excited! We met with a AAA travel agent today to give us some ideas:

    - London - Tower of London, HP walking tour, London Eye, Changing of guards and Queens Mews (DD1 is horse obsessed)
    - Edinburgh - Castle and Royal Mile
    - Inverlochy - Castle, Viking stuff, etc
    - Oban - HP steam train
    - Dublin - Trinity College/Book of Kells, bus tour, Guinness storehouse
    - Limerick - Adare Castle, Cliffs of Mohr, Dingle Peninsula, Blarney Stone, etc.

We would love to to see a soccer game but I do not think it’s in season at that time.

Anything that you would add/remove?? Any BTDT advice to make things easier??! We are factoring in jet lag and travel. Phones can get an international plan.

Any must-bye’s while we are there?

    DS loves dragons, Vikings, etc.
    DD1 loves horses and soccer.
DD2 loves fancy things - castles, princess, etc.
All three are HUGE Harry Potter fans.

    TIA!!!

How much time are you spending in Ireland? What airport are you flying in/out of? These sites are all pretty far apart:

    - Limerick - Adare Castle, Cliffs of Mohr, Dingle Peninsula, Blarney Stone, etc.

My parents are Irish and live in Ireland most of the year. I've spent a decent amount of time there. Dingle peninsula is one of my favorite places, and I'd highly recommend it. I'm not so keen on the cliffs of Moher or Blarney Castle. I was just in Ireland with my boys (10, 11, 15) last summer and can try to give you some rec's.

    of grief, and of getting past it;
    I feel my boots
    trying to leave the ground,
    I feel my heart
    pumping hard. I want
to think again of dangerous and noble things.
I want to be light and frolicsome.

How many days for the Ireland portion? And agree knowing which airport you guys are flying in/out is helpful?

Your Irish sites is so spread out. Some of it is in Cork, through southwest coastal of Ireland up into Limerick, Cliff of Mohr is way up north along the west coast. All on back narrow roads. A lot of it will depend how many days you have counting out the travel days?

Personally I prefer Ashford caste over Adare Castle. The Dingle peninsula is my all time favorite after Southern Cork beyond the city.

As for soccer (we call it football in ireland) it’ll be county wide championships from May to July. Hurling is the sport to watch though from late spring thru late summer though. Rugby will have just wrapped up their 6 nations season by st Patrick’s holiday this year.

Thank you!! At the moment we are flying from Oban to Dublin, spending 1.5 days in Dublin then driving to Limerick and then we have 3 days in that region. Hoping to fly out of Shannon, if not then we are driving back to Dublin so 2.5 days in Limerick. Would you skip Dublin?

If you have time, the highlight of London for my kids was the Harry Potter studio tour. Requires taking a trip outside the city but so worth it!

It’s supposed to be a three hour tour. We were there from opening until 4:00. We would have stayed until closing but DH was with us and he’s not an all day tourer.

Happy to see Oban on your trip, my mom is from that area and it's so cool. I can ask a friend who is local for any recs if you want. If you or your spouse drink whiskey it's got an amazing distillery as well.

Would you say that the HP studio tour is comparable to Universal Studios?? We’ve been there twice...we thought the walking tour would be interesting.

    I’ve heard they’re quite different.
