Ha! I went to Disney World two years in a row with some adult friends. This was probably 14 or 15 years ago. I went with them for "Gay Days," which at the time was an unofficial weekend in June (don't know if it still exists). But we had a blast! I'm pretty sure we had park hopper passes and I know we fast-passed some rides, but I don't remember having to do it in advance. It was pretty easy. But like you, I read about booking dinners months in advance, special wristbands, etc., and it makes me break out in hives. It's just such a different experience than what I had. But again, that was a bunch of adults for a weekend versus a family with kids for a week.

Reading all of this makes me want to avoid Disney World for as long as possible! But DD1 has been asking for a while now to go. We are probably going to do a Disney cruise first. But seriously, the last time I went to DW you just showed up and waited in line!

I LOVE Disney World! It’s my happy place, and I also hate pretty much everything you can think of when you think of Disney— heat, crowds, lines, commercialism, but somehow Disney is just magical every time! I remember when it used to be that you just showed up and went on rides. Then, when you were hungry, you went to a restaurant and waited for a table like you would at any casual restaurant in real life. The dining reservations and fast pass ridiculousness make Disney a less fun trip for me, for sure! I don’t like to have to schedule every minute of my day for a whole week of days, especially because I’m then prone to get stressed out when things don’t go as planned, and who wants to go on vacation and feel stressed and rushed!? Honestly, though, I’ve found that when I’m actually there, it hasn’t been that hard to make changes on the fly. It’s also unusual to not be able to get better reservations or fast pass times if I keep checking back a few times before the actual vacation. I hope you’ll have a wonderful trip. I feel sure you will!
