Great thread - thank you for starting it.

    We have:

    A lot of cut up fruit (apples, pears);

Go Go Yogurt (sugary, but good enough)

Pirate Bootie (empty calories, but my kids love them and I compared a bunch of Costco things and included that this was at least the best of them all)

Nuts - my DD2 loves almonds; my DD1 loves pistachios

    Orange and yellow pepper

    cucumbers

    celery with peanut butter

    cheese stick

hummus and pretzels used to be a big hit, but both my DDs hit a wall and they have no interest in it anymore...

Dried seaweed that are so popular now. I have looked it over and don't really get it - it's really salty and doesn't seem to have any nutrients so I'm not sure why they are so popular... but I do give them to my kids.

I try to give dry fruit, like dried apple (not brittle dry, but more like moist cut up ones - I'm not explaining this well) - my kids will take it, but don't love it.

Hot cocoa, like another poster said! That's really my concession to every snow day.

I am trying not to give them sweet snacks - it doesn't always work. I find that if I give them sweet snacks, like oreos, they are just wired for more sweets for the rest of the day and I have to keep them from overtaking the kitchen for more sweets...

Anyway, I don't have enough variety so am interested in hearing more ideas!

Carrots/pepper/cucumber and hummus, sometimes hummus with a spoon
Greek yogurt, either fage with the fruit on the side or plain mixed with some cereal
    Babybel cheese “wheels”
Pop corners or pirate booty are the big treat items
    Unsalted cashews
Mini bagels and cream cheese w strawberries
    Pretzels with peanut butter

This is pretty much what I snack on too...

Fruit, veggies, cheese, yogurt, nuts, eggs, olives, dill pickles or leftovers. We avoid sugar and are pretty light on grains. I almost always have a container of chicken or salmon or tuna or egg salad in the fridge. It's yummy to dip veggies in or spread on lettuce wraps. I also have them drink a big glass of water when they ask for a snack, as thirst often masquerades as hunger.

    Goldfish and other crackers.

    Corn tortilla chips.

    Bananas.

After school DC usually gets a snack of sliced apple, jicama, and a few crackers with guacamole.

    Other snack items include:
Popcorn, yogurt squeeze, raisins, peanut butter on toast, grapes, strawberries, fiber one bar, Cheerios, string cheese.

Interesting! I was just reading about jicama and how it is a really good prebiotic food. It feeds the good gut bacteria well. I am planning to try it. I'm glad to know you kids like it... that gives me hope mine will too.

Yeh DC loves jicama. It has a very mild taste and a good crunch. I buy it in a container that is pre-sliced into carrot-like-sticks at our market. I've often wondered if there is much nutritional value to it, so I'm glad to hear there is! Let me know if your DC likes it.

Not all are the healthiest of options, but this is what we stock regularly:

    Pretzels
Rice Cakes (both the larger ones and the smaller ones)
    Popcorn
    Granola bars
    Graham crackers
Some form of cracker - goldfish, cheeseits, ritz, etc.
    Applesauce
Sugar free jello and pudding cups
Yogurt (both good and sugary versions)
    String Cheese
    Babybel cheese
    Baby carrots
    Celery
    Cucumber slices
Various fruit (apples, grapes, bananas, cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches, plums)
    mom to DD1 (17), DD2 (14) and DS (9)
