    Default Why now fridge?!?!

I’m on Spring Break. Fridge is making noise made in past, ice builds up and fan hits ice. Known problem with this fridge. I can manually defrost it. Thought to call repair place thinking maybe there’s a permanent fix. He suggested I call Samsung as he thinks his fix will be temporary- it’s happened 3x since January. Sigh . I don’t want to be dealing with repairs right now. DH says better now then next week when I go back to work. No! Never is better!

    That stinks.
Can I ask what model you have? We’re about to buy a Samsung.

We have a French door fridge model number RF28HFEDBSR

It’s 3.5 years old and we didn’t have any problems until last 4 months. Turns out we did buy extended warranty so technician is coming out next week. I’m hoping for a permanent fix.

Fridge is still working, but eventually there’s enough ice fan doesn’t work and fridge gets too hot. I’m wondering if it was just age, get to 3 years then something broke or due to our remodel - it was moved to a few different rooms but did work, and from Aug to Jan it was installed in kitchen and worked fine. It wasn’t leveled properly so DH fixed that last time we defrosted it.

Whatever you buy, get the extended warranty as nothing will last

I’ll update once the repair is done. It may be something with the installation as the contractor moved it into the kitchen. I also read about the drip line can get jammed with ice.

I have a 6 year old Samsung that I repaired 2 years ago. It was an ordeal but it hasn’t recurred. I bought a part to keep the drain line from freezing that wasn’t technically a part for my model. I also replaced some wire and clipped it to a different part of some gizmo that is in the back of the fridge. The most challenging part of the whole ordeal was emptying the fridge and then taking it apart and then waiting for all the ice to melt so that I could get the back of the inside of the fridge off.

Yes reading online those are the suggested fixes. We had to look for YouTube videos to figure out how to get the bottom shelf out.

We bought a LG recently and really like it. Fridge problems are no fun!

They always pick a bad time to die - our old DW died so close to Thanksgiving that we had no time to get a replacement before, and we host the family.

We've been happy so far with our little Fisher and Paykel *knocks on wood.*
