We're having DD's birthday party at a movie theater. A hostess will put out the drinks and popcorn for the kids. I will be bringing my own food and most likely setting that up myself. He or she will also help with the birthday cake. How much should I tip?

For that type of party, $10-20 each depending on overall cost and helpfulness.

I think $10 is plenty for that level of involvement. It is completely up to you though, as it varies a lot. I spent several years running gymnastics birthday parties. Depending on the size of the party I was often the only employee at the gym to set up, coach/supervise, help with food, and clean up. Tips of any amount were rare enough that I was surprised when I got one. Maybe 20% of parents tipped, maybe not that many?
