I’m starting my new job tomorrow and moving into an office for the first time in 15 years. Any suggestions on what to have at the office? Tampons? Photos? Snacks? Other ideas?

Reusable coffee thermos like a Contigo, water bottle, tea bags or water flavor packets.

Breath mints
I used to keep the following:
- a cardigan
- a throw blanket
- nonperishable food (cereal in summer; oatmeal in winter)
- a cereal bowl
- utensils
- a cheap set of measuring cups & spoons
- tea (the office stocked Lipton; I hate Lipton)
- tampons/pads (in a LOCKED desk drawer)
- dish sponges (because the community sponge got real gross, real fast)
- photos of DH & me, DD
- a coffee mug
- a large plastic tumbler or refillable water bottle
- a canister of Clorox/Lysol wipes (or store-brand equivalent)
- a bottle of spray cleanser
- a roll of paper towels
- lip balm
- headphones
- charging cable & power brick for my phone (locked in filing cabinet)
- push-pins (wait to see if you'll have a pinboard or whatever)
- small stuffies (mine were a Beanie Baby sized Chewbacca & R2-D2)
- a replica of a cathedral gargoyle I'd bought at the Ren Faire
I listed cleaning supplies because I used to eat at my desk - the break room was tiny and I didn't like to socialize much if I was working through a problem (personal or otherwise) and it's pretty gross to eat at your desk and not clean up.
They also came in handy if I'd been ill or as part of my pre-PTO routine - I'd use the wipes to disinfect my phone (receiver, cradle, buttons), wrist rest, keyboard, chair arms, and mouse, for example, and would spray down my desk surfaces periodically to deal with the dust. Leaving my desk neat helped me arrange for coverage and then would help me prioritize my workload when I returned.

I have been at home for a few years, but I used to have a good coffee mug, framed family photos, pretty wall calendar, dental floss, snacks, extra umbrella, sweater, feminine products, hairbrush, lint roller.
