I echo the PPs on magnatiles. We've had several sets since DS1 was about that age and he's now 14. They're awesome. DS2 (who is 9.5) just told me he wants more of them for Christmas. He has a gazillion legos, but he uses the magnatiles as bases/ buildings/ forts for the legos.

Year 5 or 6 for us. I bought the smaller set initially then added more to it over the years as it's shared by both boys who totally get lost into it for hours sometimes.

I agree with magnatiles (picasso are also great). And I agree with Imaginext. Imaginext has been my 6 year old son's great obsession for years now! He still asks for those as his big wish list item every birthday and Christmas. The other thing I would say is a good mini kick style scooter (there are other cheaper brands now).

Christmas will be 11 years of owning them. They actually get played with a couple times a year still. I could probably pack them away at this point! Originally Posted by jgenie
