Default Appropriate clothes for today’s Jewish hokifay

HOLIDAY ... can’t edit the subject from my phone... We’ve been invited to DH’s boss’ house tonight for the holiday. I don’t have many option to wear as I’ve been losing weight - I have a black/ white dress that falls to knee, but it shows the shoulders as racer back. I do have a short sleeve cardigan I could wear. Or black dress pants with shirt.

For Sukkot? I assume he built a sukkah in his backyard. Around me, jeans would be appropriate. You will be eating outside.

ETA: for the break fast we went to, outfits ranged from dresses to jeans. I wore a casual dress and my kids were in shorts and t shirt. At my parents, the dress code would have been more business casual.

Yes... jeans are ok? I’ve got grey chinos I can wear or white jeans. The only pair of blue jeans that fit have a rip in knee.

Grey chinos would be fine too especially if you don’t know. I am sure a sun dress in Cali would be good too. It is so specific to small microcosm’s of communities. But sukkot is a relaxed outdoor holiday. You will probably be decorating the sukkah.

Thanks! I’ll try to hit the nicer but still casual so I’m comfortable outside.

DH said my grey chinos look too worn. I’ve got black ankle pants that are a little baggy but passable with a belt, going to wear with black wedge sandals and I have a nice blush pink shirt that is long enough to cover baggy waist on the pants. So not as dressy as my long dress pants that I have to wear with heels, but not too casual either. DH is wearing chinos with a dress shirt - he checked and his boss is wearing dress pants and dress shirt, so sounds a little more business casual than jeans.

Leggings and a sweater would be cute, if you have those.

It’s 86 degrees here today. The hot weather complicates things as my summer clothes that fit are too casual

Can you look at my post in Momwear. I need to do a closet overhaul and I’m looking for advice on essentials to get. I like a lot of what you post as suggestions for others.

Yeah, that'd be out of place weather wise. Sounds like you have a solution though!
