Default Warm women’s coat that isn’t down?

I’m looking for a coat for DD. We just found out she’s allergic to “feather,” so she needs something that isn’t down. She doesn’t want a long coat, but it needs to cover her butt. She wears a women’s small. We live in Iowa so it gets pretty cold here in the winter. Any suggestions? oh, and it has to be black.

TNF has the thermoball line. They have a triclimate version, which seems to have a shell and jacket underneath.

I have the thermoball parka, the older version. I love it! I use it as my intermediate coat, say 20-50. But I have long walking commute on both ends, get cold easily. She may be fine in something like that.

Call their cs - last time I did, I spoke to a woman located in Wisconsin so she understood my extreme cold questions.

Check out LLBean. They have some fantastic coats/parkas that do not have down. Lots of styles, but they can be pricey. They occasionally have 20% off sales.

What are other kids around you wearing? At her age there may be a prefered brand (around here North Face and under Armour jackets are very popular) even stores like aero have cute jackets that will be plenty warm, especially with a sweater under.

A friend recently got a Columbia Mighty Lite - she loves it! No down so I thought of this post. She said there were a few different styles. Worth a look.
