Default Why does everyday involve an argument with a teenager?

DS2 my h.s. senior- Are you making enough food for all of us? No? And why do I have to clean your dishes and pots and pans and wipe off counters, and sweep up your mess??

Ds3 my h.s. sophomore - Are you really telling me you’d rather not study for your 2 tests tomorrow or finish up your merit badge work so you can play that new video game you’re excited about for the rest of the night?

Dd3 also h.s. Sophomore-at some point are you going to ask for help with that huge pile of laundry on your floor that is growing by the day? Or do you really insist on doing that yourself in addition to your full coarseload, internship and ballet role?? Just let me help you with your flipping laundry!!!

Seriously like 5 minutes ago they were fun, respectful, loving elementary school kids who thought I was the smartest person in the world. Where did those kids go??? I want them back.

Sorry, they are gone and won't come back till after they go away to college. arrgghh. I did get a "thank you for being functional parents" :-) You have 3 more years of "ugh" punctuated by some fun moments :-)

And with DS2--do NOT clean up that mess!!! Lead him right back there and make him do it. The video game--natural consequences on the grades! For DD--I would have loved it if my parents would have helped me out when I was overwhelmed. But that laundry pile doesn't impact you, it's not in your space, shut the door.

My DS is only a freshman, but boy do I feel you. Every day is an argument about something... my long standing joke is that he's only using me for my money, lol.

DD 6th grade is just beginning with the tude. The eye roll which is intense.

I so feel ya. DD1 is 18 and now a freshman in college. It's only slightly better bc she is across the country and i now only speak to her maybe 1x/week. DD2 is 13 and I'm so sad she is beginning to be just as rude and emotional and blah blah blah as her sister.
