I feel like the pj/flannel pants have been going on for a long time. Not the bathrobes - I saw that out somewhere once and was like huh, this is next level, lol.

I’m glad for the confirmation that pajamas are nothing new but the bathrobes are a new "refinement." That was what really caught my eye, especially when so many kids were wearing them.

(This is outside my frame of reference, but there’s nothing about the day before Palm Sunday that cries out for bathrobes, right?!)

Out family is Catholic and I don’t know if any connection between bathrobes and Palm Sunday. We went to Palm Sunday service at a Catholic university a few days ago and I didn’t see any bathrobes on campus at all. So, unless it’s a Protestant thing, I don’t think there is a Christian connection.

My guess it’s just a step up from pajamas. Although I haven’t seen any on the campuses in our town in Wisconsin or northern Indiana. Maybe it’s just a southern thing for now. We are heading to northern Michigan this weekend. If I see any on the campus there, I’ll report back.
