Default Will I regret not buying Fall stuff now?

Okay, it is still 100 degrees here! I'm thinking about waiting until late Sept. or Oct to buy fall/winter clothes. Our weather tends to go from hot to cold without a lot of time in between. My DS is in the midst of potty training and I'm not sure what size I want to buy. I never seem to get sizing right anyway, so the closer I buy to when I use the clothes, the better. But... will there be anything nice left? It is so difficult to find cute boys clothing anyway, so I'm worried that I will have nothing decent for him to wear! I know that stores will bring out more stuff for the holidays by Oct., but will it all be holiday themed? Do the kids stores have Late Fall lines?

I totally understand your dilemna. It's 98 today! I am buying some things ahead because if you love something, you run the risk of selling out. I'm buying enough things to get us started on cool weather - several play/daycare outfits and several cute nicer outfits. After it gets cooler and as DS need more clothes, then I'll buy as I go. I'm definitely not planning on a whole fall/winter wardrobe at once.

Yes, there is a late fall line. Although it will probably come in a couple of weeks. Some of the winter lines will be holiday inspired but it still shouldn't be a problem to find stuff.

I'm not really in the mood for fall yet, so I'm just buying the pieces I simply "have" to have and will wait to see the next lines.

How about buying somethings now at a place with a good return policy?
I would check the Children's Place policy... and carefully save receipts and take back what you don't end up needing...
Just an idea...

I have found that coordinating pieces often sell-out, at least in part... and then it is frustrating go to hunting in other stores for the right sizes...

Frankly, I can never get into buying the season (or two) before. I usually just pick up a very few items so that I am prepared for a sudden weather change. It is hard for me to predict what size my boys will be in, and I don't have a lot of time for returns. I also find I get much more on sale when I buy a little later. It is in the 90's here too,, and I can't bear the thought of buying, say, winter coats or sweaters. You are not alone. Late shoppers unite, lol!

I am with you Lisa. I hate buying ahead, as my boys change sizes, or don't change, on me unexpectantly. Of course, I am always cursing myself in Feb when the bathing suits are out!

Maternity and children's wear are two areas where I do not understand why they jump ahead in seasons. You never know what sizes you need!

Yes, there will still be nice stuff left and it may even be cheaper (as stores move out their fall stuff and bring in the winter gear).

I bought ahead on everything for this summer, and while it's worked out ok...I wish I hadn't.

I love sales, but at the moment...I can't justify buying anything on sale bc our summer wardrobe is already rounded out. So even though I'm dying for some of those great deals, I am staying away.

If there's something that you think might sell-out (either the color of the item itself), and you just can't live without it, then I would go ahead and buy ahead. Otherwise, I would say wait it out until it gets cooler for buying fall clothes.

The only fall stuff I pick up now is short sleeved shirts because it seems we wear those almost year round, but they are only around for summer and transition lines, at least in girls stuff. I find I can pick up pants and sweaters on sale once the cooler weather actually hits. (After Halloween, usually.)

It depends on the sizes and stores. I've already run into things selling out in the size we need at a lot of places (Lands End is somewhat notorious for selling out of sizes early). Apparently everyone else is looking for 18 month girl clothes this season! :)

I'm not sure what to do so i'm kind of waiting. Before DD was born we bought a whole bunch of stuff and mostly worked out great. But now DD is in 12 months clothes and just started to wear some of her 18 months stuff (some fits nicely, some is huge depending on the brand). DD is 32 1/4 inches and 22 1/2 pounds. I did buy some 12-18 months fall stuff from Gymbo and now I'm concerned because DD is going through another growth spurt so I'm not sure where we are going to end up.

but I did hit macys, baby gap and old navy and some sizes for the fall stuff are sold out!!! i decided not to buy. i just didn't feel like buying stuff in different sizes and then worrying about having to return them. I tend to forget and find stuff when DD is either outgrown or the receipt has expired....:( but at least DD has plenty of shoes for the fall :)
