RE: recs / raves convertable car seat r/o
I've personally had two of the Alpha Omegas and got rid of them because I hated them. I've also seen a few more negative reviews than good on that seat as well. (Wish I knew that before I had bought 2 of them). You could also try doing a search for Alpha Omega or AO and see what others have had to say. Also try epinions.com.
The seat has a few things that just didn't appeal to me.. VERY twisty straps, hard to install, didn't install rearfacing well at all!, it is also fairly notorious for low harness height which means even though they tout it's the only seat you'll ever need, it's not necessarily true, because many children outgrow the highest harness position well before they are ready to use the seat as a booster. So you'd end up needing something in between before putting them into booster mode. Evenflo makes alot of great seats that I honestly think make a better choice. And even though you'll need to buy a separate booster down the road, it's better than either using a too low harness or a too young child in booster mode! My personal favorite is Britax Roundabout, but like I said above, Evenflo gets my vote for next best, specifically the Triumph.
