What are you guys going to do? DS goes to sleep b/w 7-8 but typically around 7:30. Lately he has been waking up once to eat b/w 4-5 am. Then he is up for the day...anywhere from 5:45 to 7:00. But usually b/w 6-6:30. I hate to think that he will be getting up at 5:00/5:30 when daylite savings time arrives. Weissbluth says to put the baby to bed at the new clock time.....but I don't think DS can make it that long. He says social/family cues will help the child regulate their new sleep schedule but do you think that is true for infants?

Me either! Christine, you are such a planner. What are we going to do...where are our toddler mommies who went through this last year? Hopefully they have wise words of wisdom!

I've read (although I can't remember where) to start the week before the time change putting your baby to bed 15 minutes earlier each day until you arrive at the new desired time. Now, whether this means that the baby will sleep 15 minutes longer each day, I do not know.

You know, I just stick to the clock. If bedtime is 7:30, it is still 7:30 when Daylight savings time goes on or off. I don't usually notice a problem with my kids because I get them up at the same time every day even with the new time change. If you have trouble, try putting baby to bed a half hour early the first night.
Honestly, I haven't noticed a problem with my little ones! gina, mom to 3 |

We do the 15 minute thing (1 week in advance) and it seems to work. That having been said when the clocks changed in spring we took it as an excellent excuse to put DS to bed at 8 instead of 7, since I came home from work at 5 and felt I didn't get any time with him in the evening. DH was a student at the time so he could get up a bit later too. This time, we will see what happens with DH's job search -- we might be in for a rough time of getting DS up very early so we can all get up to get to work... boohoo.
