Default Flintstones Vitamins & Aspertame

My OB recently switched me over from pre-natals to Flintstones, so I might actually keep them down. :) Now, Flintstones vitamins come in 5 different varieties. I chose Flintstones Complete, it seemed to have the best combination of vitamins, and 100% folic acid. The Complete's contain Aspertame, though, something I never consumed before pregnancy, and am not about to consume now. What did you all take, if you had to switch to Flintstones?

I took the regular flintstones chewables twice a day. I don't even remember seeing different kinds! I'm sorry you're so sick! I had HG so I sympathize! Eventually I scrapped the prenatals all together. The folic acid isn't really necessary once you're in your second tri (which you are) and if you're not struggling with iron deficiency or anemia, I wouldn't bother. You can drink nutrition beverages (like Boost or Ensure) and it will pick up the slack for the lack of a multivitamin....that's assuming you can keep those down....:-(

I hope you feel better soon....let me know if you want any other advice on how to stop puking!!!! i've got all kinds of tricks ; )

Oh, Megs, thank you! I had severe HG with Luke, but this pregnancy really quite minor compared to that. :) I was just feeling fustrated that I treked out to the pharmacy to pick up vites for myself, got all the way home, and then realized they contained Aspertame. I'll have to check into the other variations. They've got to have one with out it!

I take the regular Flintstones, plus a folic acid supplement. The folic acid is tiny and didn't cause any problems for me when I was so sick with morning sickness. I threw up my Flintstones vitamin a few time, but it didn't cause nearly the problems my prenatal was causing.

I'm avoiding artificial sweeteners, but I don't feel that the tiny amount in the vitamin is worth worrying about. You could check out Whole Foods or another natural food store for a natural variety of children's chewables.

Kaya takes the rainbow light ones too, for the same reason--no artificial sweeteners. Unfortunately, we can't get her to take them regularly (she thinks they are like candy, which she doesn't like), but we are still trying. :P
