For anyone who has decided to switch to BPA free bottles, you may be able to return them for store credit. After the research that Dr. Brown's bottles made with BPA leech chemicals, I decided to switch to new bottles. I went ahead and bought new Green to Grow bottles, and then I just found out that some Babies R Us are accepting Dr. Brown bottles for store credit. I would call first, but my BRU in southern CA, accepted my used bottles ( my baby is 8 mths old now) Initially they would only let me swap for new bottles ( but since I had already bought new bottles and not sure I would find something at that moment) Once I told them I had all my receipts, they told me I could get a store credit, so I was able to get over $70 back! It's worth a shot so don't throw out your bottles yet! I'm so glad I decided to switch and getting the refund is just an added bonus.

My BRU in PA is still giving out those BPA Avent bottles in the registry gift packs... so I'm sure they won't trade mine in.

Mine are over 3 years old and I definitely don't have receipts anymore. I keep meaning to put them in the recycle bin.

I may try this at ours. We had registered for and received some of the Dr. Browns with BPA before we were aware of the issue. We haven't used the BPA ones and they are still in the package unopened. But of course we didn't keep any gift receipts since we were going to use them and there'd be no need to keep a receipt. So now we've got a big gift pack and a couple smaller packs of bottles sitting in the top of the closet still in packages. I emailed Dr. Browns customer service a week or so ago asking if they were going to do anything to assist parents that received these items as gifts or purchased them prior to their non-BPA bottles being available but haven't heard anything from them. I expected a "too bad, so sad" response but have gotten nothing from them at this point.

called both my local BRU's and both said they won't accept returns unless unused and within 30 days (regular return policy). That was Boca and Sunrise in South Florida. Figures, I have about 10 Dr. Brown's that I will be tossing.

I had heard this as well... I had already purchased the new polypropylene Dr. Browns to relplace our existing dr. browns bottles so I called my local BRU. They said that no reciept was necessary and they could give me a store credit. I brought the bottles in and the woman at customer service looked at me like I was crazy because there was no official recall on them. But after she called her manager, she quickly gave me a store credit for them. I was really surprised that they did this and it improved BRU customer service in my eyes...
And don't forget, if you buy replacement Dr. Browns bottles (glass or polypropylene), you can send in your UPC from the package and Dr. Browns customer service will "match" your purchase with additional polypropylene BPA free bottles. |

I called TRU corporate and they said its only BRU in Canada that will accept the BPA returns. They won't honor it in the US because there was no recall. So those of you that are lucky enough to have a BRU that will do it, hurry up and get it done, it might not last long.

So, I had a bunch of Avent bottles that I purchased last year from Target.com and no receipt. I logged on and found the order number and then called their number. I explained to the CS Rep that I would like to return them even though I've had them for a year because of the BPA concerns. She told me to follow the return process online and they'd refund me the money.
I tried to do that and the system said that the order wasn't eligible for return because it was too old. I called back and spoke to another CS Rep. She told me that she understands and to just go ahead and dispose of the bottles and she'd issue me a refund on the order. How cool is that??? |

Thanks for the tip! I just switched over to Born Frees but have many barely used Avent bottles. I am in SoCal as well. May I ask which one you went to?
