I want to get to granular transaction level so i can see what is spent where. I think Quickens is what I need, but are there others you prefer?

you can get granular with MS Money, Quicken, Quickbooks. However MS Money is pretty clunky on the mac. quickbooks on the mac is the best of the 3, but may be overkill for you if you dont have a biz. HTH.

I use Quicken for Mac and really like it. Have you checked out mint.com? I know some people like that too.

Sorry for hijacking, but I never heard of mint.com -- how safe is it to use?

mint is secure. i like it. it imports your statements and tries to categorize, but you can also go in and create rules for categories and names. you can do splits and create custom categories. you can do budgets, track progress, etc. it currently does everything i need it to. it's not a lot like quicken, but if you play around with it a little it's actually quite intuitive and easy to learn. and yes, you can get relatively granular. plus, it's pretty.

MS Money is no longer made, and even old versions are no longer supported.
I tried Mint.com and it does not have the same functionality of Money or Quicken. I used to use Money, now use Quicken. I like it. Very easy! |
