Default To booster or not to booster

It is ME that isn't ready LOL!

DD will be 6 in June and she is 44" and 40lbs.

I need to get a new seat for her and I am trying to decided if *I* am ready for her to be in a booster. (She is mature enough to sit in one.)

If I want to keep her harnessed, our only option right now is a Radian because of 3-across issues. (And I would get the XTSL because I have no side curtain airbags.)

We haven't even tried to find a booster that fits, but it is an option.

If she is ready to be in a booster please convince *me* she will be okay!

If the RN is your only option for a 3 across, you may have issues finding a booster that fits 3 across. What vehicle and what are the other seats?

Right now we have a RN outboard and a Chicco Keyfit 30 center. We can fit something as big as a Recaro Prosport outboard, but the shoulder belt covered the harness slot so we gave up on that. (THAT would have been perfect but oh well.) That being said if we could fit that we could probably fit a Probooster or other Recaro. (We would just have to buckle her before we put the infant carrier in.) Oh, 2003 Malibu.

KrisM has a Malibu. I'm not familiar with Recaro seats, we dont' have them here.

I meant to mention her in my first post.....she is the one that suggested the Recaros when I first posted about 3 across.

Just really trying to convince myself that DD would be okay in a booster if that is the way we decide to go.

Just speaking generically, if you have a tight 3-across, sometimes its better to keep harnessing as long as you can. I can be tough for kids to buckle a booster in any circumstance, but particularly in a 3-across. You also don't want them to mistakenly unbuckle a seat that is installed via belts beside them (that goes for adults too).

ETA: and, FTR, I'm absolutely a-OK with a 40lb 6yo (no special needs, compliant to sitting nicely) in a booster.
