help with kettler foot rest

We have the regular happy and the foot rest seems kind of wobbly. DH has readjusted it and it still feels the same. And sometimes if Diego puts too much pressure on it the pedals get "caught" and the trike lurches which does not make him happy. Any advice? TIA!
