Default Booster/LATCH questions

We are going to be purchasing a new child seat for our three year old to be placed in a car that has the capability to accept LATCH system seats. Does anyone know if there are any of 5-point boosters on the market that employ a LATCH system? If not, does anyone have any thoughts about the choice between a LATCH car seat or a 5-point booster that uses lap/shoulder belts?

And just fyi-
I have called Britax about their LATCH and 5-point booster offerings. Apparently their LATCH seat will not be on the market for another 3 months, and they have no idea when their 5-point booster will be available. So in other words, either of my choices will have to be a non-Britax product. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Booster/LATCH questions

Hi there. Well, at this point, there are no LATCH boosters on the market---only "convertible" seats like the Fisher Price Safe Embrace II (which is good seat, but can be used only up to 40 pounds).

Unfortunately, seat makers have been VERY SLOW in rolling out LATCH models, to the frustration of many parents. (Britax is one of the laggards). We do expect more models to be forthcoming----in 2002 or later, however.

Wish we had better news,
