Default Snuzzlers, mirrors and latch

Does anyone have any thoughts on using the Snuzzler infant support and a convex mirror where you can view your infant? When we had our carseat installation checked, the tech said no on both of these since they weren't crash tested. However, the Snuzzler says it has been crash tested and fits with the NHTSA guidelines (no padding behind the baby, sides are ok). The mirror I am still iffy on.

Also, I have a 2nd row bench seat with only the 2 outer seats having LATCH. Am I better off to use LATCH on the passenger side, or use the lap belt and put the baby in the middle? Or are both places equally safe and I should choose what is easier for me (it's VERY hard to get the baby in the middle, my truck sits up too high and I have to climb in)?
