Edited on 8/10/05----I have removed the link to my registry since it is making some posters uncomfortable. BTW, I don't feel like my first and last name and/or town is "personal" information. This info could be found in NUMEROUS places both on and off the web, if someone was really THAT interested in finding it.
Thanks to all those who responded to my original thread....your responses were so helpful!! Ashley

That is a good idea! I know I learned a lot by checking out my friends' registries and then researching the items.
I don't have a registry now, since my baby is two, or I would post it for you. It looks like you have a lot of great things on there. I saw your post in the feeding forum and was going to post there until I saw this thread. The soft shell things you have registered for were a lifesaver for me! I loved those!! You may not need them, but if you do, you will be so happy you have them. They gave them to me at the hospital, otherwise I would never have known about them. They were great to help let my nipples heal a bit between feedings. Register for some lansinoh and soothies too...or pick some up for yourself. A couple of other BF lifesavers for me. :) One thing I did with my registry...I had several showers like you...I put on the things I wanted/needed most at first, and then added other things that I would "like" to have after some of those were purchased. Not that you have to do this, it just worked for me. It is definitely great to have lots of things in all price ranges like you do. The only other thing I didn't notice on your registry that I might add (and I might have missed them, sorry if I did) was some babyproofing items...outlet covers, door knob covers, drawer locks, tot locks, etc. You don't need them right away but it is nice to have them ahead of time. Good luck!! And I totally get the type A personality/first time mom thing. I remember it all too well!! ) |

Thanks Jen! Great info! As you probably noticed, I did register for some other items that I won't need right away, like a gate, high chair etc., so the baby proofing would a good idea! I will do that today.
I tried to register for the lansinoh cream (would someone really buy that for me anyway???!) but even though it's on amazon, you can't register for it on your baby registry. I'm going to pick some up next time I'm at the drugstore...just to have it on hand!! Thanks again! Anyone else??? :-) Ashley

Hi Ashley! Welcome!
What a great idea to share registries! I don't have one now either, otherwise I'd share. As for the Lansinoh, I actually did buy some for a shower gift. My friend was not registered for it. She was registered for a Boppy, which I purchased, and I included the Lansinoh because I knew she'd need it! She thanked me later. :) But my sister just had her baby a month ago and the lactation consultant at the hospital gave her a tube for free (not a sample one!). So the tube I bought for her got returned. ~ deb DS born at home 12/03 http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/10029.gif |

Ashley,
Some suggestions that I have for your registry (aka this is what worked for me :) ) a glider a portable sterio with a white noise CD (try: for crying out loud) amazing miracle blanket Johnson's baby relief kit http://www.johnsonsbaby.com/products...aby-relief-kit and most importantly... diapers/ wipes HTH Karoly PS, don't worry about your A type personality :) I drove everyone crazy with all my "baby research"!!! I read: happiest baby on the block, girlfriends guide to pregnancy and guide to baby gear, baby bargins, what to expect when expecting, what to expect the first year, and on and on!!!!! And did all this info help? Sometimes yes, and sometimes No!! ETA: Now that I think about it...here are some more items that were invaluable to me: pacifiers (gerber nuk) and clips Symphony in Motion mobile (by tinylove) baby scrapbook kit Fisher Price aquarium cloth diapers to use a burp cloths and if you don't already have one, a nice digital camera (my dad gave me one and I would be lost without it!!) |

I would say diapers.
I got every single item I registered for, so the last minute shoppers improvised. I received a lot of clothes and diapers that I did not register for. The diapers have been great! My dd is over two months old and we still are using our shower stash.

Hi Ashley! Welcome to BBB! Wow, it looks like you've done a great job with your registry already. The swing that you registered for is adorable. We had the aquarium swing for Matthew and it was a life saver! He liked the side to side swinging that regular swings don't offer. I also love that you've registered for books.
The only advice I might offer is to maybe consider a different stroller. I LOVE the toile design, it's so pretty! I'm only saying this because I've had some experience with them. I started off with a Graco with Ryan b/c it's all I knew. While it was O.K., it was also really bulky and just didn't hold up very well. We now have a Peg Perego P3 that we LOVE! It's more money, for sure, but I think it's worth it due to the quality. The Inglesina Zippy also gets great reviews. I'm not certain, but I think that both can be used with a Snugride.(I don't recommend getting the Peg Perego baby carseat as it's $$$ and the Snugride is great!) There is a Yahoo group called StrollerSwap that is a great resource for stroller info. Here's the link... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StrollerSWAP/ You might not care at all about having a different stroller so just disregard this if that's the case. :) ~Leslie SAHM to... I'm having a hard time remembering all the stuff I registered for. But I rememebr quite vividly all the work I put into it. And also how much it was disregarded. :(
Anyway, I think you have a very nice assortment and have made excellent choices. Though I would recommend rethinking the stroller too. We have that hamper and I love it! Lots of books are a really good thing. Things you may want to consider: some sort of toy storage for the bathroom and baby's room/living room a book shelf of some sort, since I see you registered for lots of books That is all, otherwise it looks like you are ready to go! I would say more cloth burping diapers! I leave them all over the house. (They are great for leaking or if you end up having letdown issues.) I agree with pp about a glider. I didn't get one before and we ended up running out to get one once dd came home. Makes BFing much easier.
How about something for the crib -- like a crib mirror or activity thing. We got a great mirror that has black and white patterns on the reverse side that dd LOVES! Baby wash cloths, diaper bag, baby hangers, how about a crib skirt or other things for the nursery. HTH!
