Help! What on earth is wrong with me? Update

I am planning to call my doc in the am and get an appt. asap, but until then, what the heck is wrong with me?

I have swelling and pain in my jaw area, near my ear, on the left side. We did a little searching online, but found nothing really telling there, other than perhaps I have some sort of unexplained infection.

My ears don't hurt, my teeth and gums don't hurt. There is no bite or wound on the outside of my skin, nor inside my mouth. All of this pain and discomfort is under the skin. There is minor tenderness and pain most of the time, but when I eat and chew, it swells quite a bit and the pain becomes rather unbearable. It is similar to a mump, on one side, but I've had those and I'm not sick at all, so it's not that. It's not just TMJ kind of stuff because of all the swelling and the fact that it's localized to the one side. I'm suspecting some type of infection or lymph node something and I hope to heck it's not some kind of terrible thing!

It's freaking me out and making it impossible to eat. I'm fat and pregnant for pete's sake. It's making me miserable!

Anyone want to make a diagnosis?

Ding, ding, ding...and the prize goes to lilycat88 (Jamelin) and Cara1. My doc says it's a salivary gland obstruction or stone. She said I had a low grade fever, so she prescribed Augmentin and told me to continually suck on hard candy when I'm not eating (OUCH!) to try to flush the gland of it's blockage. She claims that many times it will flush itself out, but said if I don't have relief by Wed am (that long??!!) that I need to contact them for referral to ENT or other specialist. She said this can happen to anyone at anytime, but rarely does, and that I shouldn't be at any increased risk of further incidents of this (hallelujah!). For now, the candy is KILLING me, but not nearly as much as eating, so that's good. I hope this passes and quickly becuause it's making me quite miserable!
