Thanks for your prayers, we made it.
Thank you so much for all of the prayers and well wishes. God truly answered our prayers in allowing us to go. As a surgical resident, my husband is not allowed to have any time off no matter what the situation unless he himself is hospitalized. For example, when I was in the hospital several weeks ago, he had to visit me in between seeing patients. So we didn't expect that he would be able to go to the funeral even if we were able to work it out somehow. The other residents really stepped in to cover for him allowing to get the entire weekend off. My parents ended up being able to cover all of our travel expenses with my grandmother's money. It was absolutely amazing. We drove eight hours on Friday and another three on Saturday arriving with just enough time to change for the funeral. My dh is driving back today and the girls and I will fly back later this week. I feel so much more at peace about everything since being able to say goodbye at the funeral. My dad conducted the service and included the tribute that I wrote which was really nice. I'm still sad but my grandma is at peace and with the Lord now and I can't ask for more than that. I'm in a much better place personally since I was able to get the closure that I needed so much. Just wanted to share that I'm doing better in case anyone cared. Thanks again. When I get back, I will try to respond to everyone's notes individually.
