Let me start off by saying that his question is NOT for me! No newborns in my immediate future! :)
My friend has a DS the same age as my DD. She's been using FuzziBunz with him and started when he was in mediums. She's expecting a new baby in a few months and I sent her a care package with some cding stuff in it. I sent 6 covers (proraps and bummis, 2 newborn, 4 small), about 8 infant CPFs and 2 Kissaluvs size 0. She fell in love with the Kissaluvs (as I suspected she might!) and is interested in using them, but she's worried about what size to get. She's not sure whether to get more size 0 or to get some size 1. She's worried about her baby growing out of the 0s rather quickly b/c her son was 20 pounds by the time he was 6 months old. I suggested that the medium FBs would probably fit (at least according to the size charts that I found) by the time the new baby grew out of the Kissaluvs size 0 and recommended that she skip Kissaluvs size 1 and just stock up on more size 0. Is that sound advice or should I have suggested something else? She hasn't decided what she'll do, yet, but she's in major nesting mode and I think she'll place an order pretty soon. What do you think? And I would suggest that she post here, but she's had a somewhat difficult pregnancy and I thought I'd try to figure it out for her! Kristen |

I would definitely skip the larger Kissaluv sizes because they're really not absorbent enough for a bigger baby. I was able to use the kissaluv 0s with Kaya until she was around 14 pounds? At that point, she was exclusively in prefolds (she was mostly in preemies, then infant prefolds with kissaluvs as a night time, on-the-go supplement) until she was 6 months old. Oh, except the night time Benjamuffins (fitted). I believe Kaya would have fit the medium FBs at 4 months (14 pounds) but I did NOT put her in them because they didn't contain her leaky poop very well. Snappi'd prefolds in covers with gussets were superior for leaky poop containment. A good fitted with covers with gussets would have done the same thing, I'm sure, but I didn't want to spend the $$ on fitteds for something she might only wear for a short time (of course ask me about that now, HAHA!).
Anyway, if she wants some larger fitted diapers for after her newborn outgrows her kissaluv 0s, there are a ton of better options than Kissaluv 1s. For example, bijou baby gear hemp fitted. Or loveybums. Or Kindhearted women diapers. Or tykie fitted diapers (but keep in mind that these sizes run small, so you'll want to size up). Or sugarpeas size 1 diapers. I think there are several "favorite fitted" diaper threads floating around here. HTH some! tell her to get the 0's. dylan outgrew them pretty fast in the rise, but the 1's never really fit him right. lucky me they were all borrowed! thanks eileen and sonia! but his sugarpeas size 1 fit when he outgrew the KL 0's. and his medium FBs fit, too. i think he was in med FBs by 6 or 8 weeks.
