I must be doing something wrong! I've gotten pretty good at getting her in but taking her out is a disaster. When I'm home I lift the whole sling off with her in it, lay her on the bed/couch, and then take her out. But when we're out and about I'm embarassed at the ordeal that we go through to get her out. Am I missing the trick?

I found it a bit tricky too esp at the beginning. My DH joked that we were rebirthing the kid everytime we pulled him out. I tried to get his arms and shoulders out by pushing up on his butt and getting one and then the other arm out. Then I would grab under his armpits and pull him up and out. It gets MUCH easier as they get more muscle control but the first few weeks are tricky.
Hang in there, you will get a system down with a little practice! Betsy |

That is exactly what I feel like! We pull her out of the sling and her little face is all squished as she somes out.

Lol, this is why I'm "sling-shy" everywhere but at home. I have a kkacp and it's a bit snug to boot. If Cadie is sleeping, I usually just unsnap the whole thing and put her down.
Last month I posted asking how to get Cadie in, how to get her out, and how to snap the silly thing back together. :) |

For the 1st few months when he slept in the sling in the cradle position, I would just lay him down on the bed/etc & back out of the sling :) It gets easier, but then again when they get older they don't fall asleep as readily (like to watch the world), so it gets to be a tradeoff.
I also would only take him off @ home pretty much-- went to a few new moms things where I was sure no one would look @ me too crosseyed, but otherwise I kept him in the pouch the entire time we were out. GL! :) |
