If you have a HD camcorder

How long does it take to transfer video to your computer/burn to a DVD. I am burning a DVD (maybe a total of 20 minutes of video) right now and and after 48 minutes only 6% is written. Is this normal? Is there a better way?

Seems a bit slow, but not unheard of.

That's my primary reason why I don't recommend HD camcorders. I've got several hours of unconverted video sitting and taking up space on my hard drive cuz I don't have the time to wait for the computer to convert it.

Normally, if you have 20 min of video, it should take about 40 min to convert and burn onto a DVD. If your computer isn't optimum tho, you can experience much longer waits. IIRC, for my computer, 20 min takes over an hour to do everything.

That was the downer with our camcorder. It took FOREVER to transfer. So we use my DS's point and shoot canon for short videos or we use DH's new ipod nano.
