Question What are safe alternatives to sugar if we want to go sugarfree?

There are so many sugar alternatives out there that I'm not sure if there are any safe options. We're trying to do less sugar because, unfortuantely, we're very prone to cavities in this household. Sigh! What are safe alternatives that we can use? Anyone have any suggestions?

Just from looking at the grocery aisle, I can see that they have Equal, Splenda, and Sweet N Low. I remember that one or more caused cancer in lab rats or something, but it's been so long since I've research any of this that I thought I would see if any of you ladies and gents have found suitable safe options.

Off to do some research.

Thanks!
