Default Does anyone know what Lewis B negative means?

I know this is a long shot but just wondering. My former midwife ordered bloodwork for my BF to see if he has the e antigen. Idk if she ordered the right test because the result was Lewis B negative. She told me she has no idea what this means and I don't think she intends to find out since shes not treating me anymore.

I dont think she did either. Idk why she couldn't just call my perinatologist and ask him what to do or why he wouldn't just order the test for us. This is so frustrating. Oh and now from reading that link I'm thinking my BF has gastric cancer.

I agree, she ordered the wrong test, Le-b for Lewis b instead of (little) e ...here's a Wikipedia link:

Hopefully, he's e antigen negative, and there won't be any issues for your LO!

Ok so here's my next question? Is it fair that I have to pay for this since she had to be stubborn about figuring it out for herself? This is all out of pocket. She's already on my last nerve and she knows it so I have no problem confronting her about this.

I would have no issue requesting that the incorrect test be credited, or that the correct test be performed at no additional charge. You certainly shouldn't have had to figure this out on your own, but even if your midwife had helped...you still shouldn't, IMO, have to pay for this incorrect (and therefore completely useless!) test.

Good luck!

Nope, not fair. That was her mistake. She ordered the wrong test so I don't see why you should have to pay for it.

Thanks guys, I will tell her I'm not paying for it and see what happens from there. I still owe her money anyway.

I'd be seriously concerned if a medical professional has no idea what the results of a test he/she ordered means (AND has no desire to find out). So I think you are completely justified in confronting her about this and not paying for it to be corrected. And if you had not said she's your "former" midwife, I would tell you to run FAST!

Is she actually billing you or the lab that ran the test? If the lab is billing you directly it is going to be more complicated to not pay because of her error in ordering the test. The lab will still expect to get paid.
