Default Guilty Pleasures thread.....

In other words, things you like that you shouldn't. REALLY shouldn't. Mine today are:

- My favorite underwear? Cheap polyester granny panties. Not white though, that is where I draw the line.

- I enjoy the music of Ke$ha

Yours?

* Everything about the movie Independence Day, but especially the wonderfully jingoistic 'We will not go quietly into the night...' speech that the POTUS (played wonderfully by Bill Pullman) delivers on the eve of the final battle with the invading alien forces. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l31UUl5SyXk)

* 'Weird Al' Yankovic. I've been a fan since I was 6 and 'Eat It!' played on the radio.

* Rush. You know, the Canadian band fronted by Getty Lee? I love them. (Especially because they were a surefire baby-settler when DD was itty bitty. We caught the documentary 'Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage' the other night on Palladia with DD, who was absolutely transfixed by a Neil Peart drum solo. The man is amazing. She also boogied her li'l bum off to 'Limelight' and 'Subdivisions' ... made DH & I smile.)

Other than that, I get really defensive about things that are "guilty" pleasures. I enjoy what I enjoy and don't much care whether I "should" or not.

Eating junk that I don't allow the kids to eat - after they go to bed.

Endless hours spent on the BBB.

Lol, this is me too. Also, bargain shopping, it's so bad though and I'm trying to break my habit. So far, so good, although I snuck out to TJ Maxx earlier this wk. Whoops.

Ridiculous gossip magazines--I get a bunch (thanks to awesome deals found on slickdeals--another guilty pleasure!) and devour them, even though they (a) are all ridiculous and (b) all basically have the same articles and pics, in slightly different formats.

I also stash treats (candy, mostly) in the back of the fridge, and become bitter if DH happens to find them--I look forward to my treats when I finally have 5 minutes of downtime after DH and DS go to bed!

Reading chick lit when DSs are at school and DD is napping while I should be doing my chores around the house.

Getting a latte at Starbucks to sip while I grocery shop.

Eating my fave Ben & Jerry's - Coffee Heathbar - straight from the carton.

I love Weird Al too, and have liked him since Eat It came out too.

I still have a crush on Tom Cruise; he'll always be Maverick to me.

I am addicted to watching clips of my favorite tv couples on You Tube.

I don't ever want to give up driving a car with a manual transmission.

I love Chinese shoot 'em movies. John Woo is awesome.

I have seen every View Askew Universe movie; yes even Clerks 2, and I think that Jersey Girl
is a much better movie than it got credit for.
