Probably the last 4-5 nights I've had terrible insomnia. I go to sleep and wake up at like 3am. It's like I've had a nap- and then I'm awake for 1-2 hrs. Or I can't sleep until 3am ish.
Yesterday I had a low grade headache because I was exhausted. We leave for DL on Friday and I am hoping to break the cycle. I see my OB on Thurs for my typical bi-weekly appt (I'm 30 weeks right now) Any suggestions on how to break the cycle? |

All I know is, it happens to me with each pregnancy in my 3rd trimester, so I feel your exhaustion!
I know you can take Unisom safely to help you sleep, but that treats the problem, not prevents it. I have no idea if there is a way to prevent it in the first place or break the cycle. But, totally normal unfortunately!

Sorry! I am right there with you. It drives me nuts. I am so tired during the day, and then when I get the chance to sleep at night, I can't do it. The only thing I have found that helps sometimes is trying (forcing myself) to get more exercise during the day. Hope that helps.

I used Hypnobabies and Hypnobirthing for childbirth prep during my pregnancies. It really helped my insomnia. I even used the CDs a few times when I was not pregnant because they helped so much.
If I had a bout of insomnia I would sometimes put the CD on and fall asleep. There are also insomnia-specific programs out there that use hypnosis or guided meditation. No side effects, and you are teaching yourself a skill

BTDT too....so difficult. Exercise helped me and also getting sunshine each day. When I was on couch rest it was the worst because I wasn't getting the exercise and couldn't sleep even though I felt exhausted. Hope you can get some rest.

BTDT,
It sucks.I read A LOT of books. When I suffer from insomnia I get really anxious about not sleeping. I have rituals that help me feel somewhat okay about not sleeping. I would sleep with my ipad on the pillow in between DH and I and read in the middle of the night. I read all 3 of the hunger games books in less than a week (all in the middle of the night). I had lavender oil on my night stand and rub my temples with the oil. Good luck, I know it's so hard. |
