Just curious. I learned the correct way by watching baby gizmo videos. For instance, I used to think Britax was brit-ax instead of bry-tax; Peg Si was sigh instead of see; and Mutsy was mutt-see instead if moot-see. I'm sure there are others I can't think of.

I'm always amused by stuff like that. I think a lot of it has to do with international brands, where it gets pronounced one way in the native language and another in English (or in the case of Britax, American English). I guess at some point it becomes an established pronunciation, like the way English speakers pronounce Paris (PE-ris) vs how French speakers do (pah-REE).
I'm pretty sure people in my neck of the woods would just laugh if I started saying "Bry-tax" . . . kind of like Moet champagne, which technically speaking should be pronounced "Mo-ET", since it's a Dutch name, not French, but everyone says "Mo-AY" since it looks French. I waited tables for years, and this was always a point of contention; should you pronounce the name how it SHOULD be said (and have most people think you're a fool) or how it's commonly said (but know you're saying it wrong). I usually went with the common pronunciation, figuring if I ever ran into someone who cared, they'd probably enjoy having a chance to educate me on the subject, whereas the majority of people wouldn't think twice about it. |

I always pronounce Chicco "chee-ko" even though I know it is pronounced "kee-ko". I also say Brit-tax even though I know it's wrong.
Is Graco pronounced "grack-ko" or "gray-ko"? I do the latter but have heard the former. Oh and at first I though Bobs were B.O.B like the rapper and Phil & Teds were Bill & Teds (stroller shopping is an excellent adventure after all)

Lol. Yes to all of these: Brit-ax, mutt-sy, chi-ko. I guess it's our 4th grade English teacher telling us about proper phonetics coming out

Yes. I continue to pronounce them the wrong way. I still say moot-see, brit-ax, and Jane (as opposed to haney).

I did NOT know that Jane was not pronounced like the name. I don't think I've ever spoken about that brand out loud with anyone, though, so-- phew!

I know I get some of the less common ones wrong. But since no one IRL wants to talk strollers with me, I guess its not really an issue. I've only said most of them in my head.
I did see a Haney (Jane) tandem this weekend and was very excited in my head, pronouncing it all wrong.
