Default Questions about older Medela bottles and newer nipples

I have a PIS that I used with DD when she was born in 2008. She was born with bilateral cleft lip and palate, so I had to use Haberman feeders, which were specific nipples. I tried to pump milk (couldn't actually breastfeed) and supplemented with formula. As she got bigger, I bought 8 oz Gerber bottles, to attach the nipples to for feedings. Pumping was not terribly successful, due to DD1's condition and my recovery- I got very little each time. I know that this time will be a different scenario, but don't really know how it will go.

Flash forward to present. DD #2 will be arriving via repeat c-sec in about 3 weeks! Bottle choices are overwhelming.

Can I use the newer Medela nipples with the older bottles and collars? I seem to recall reading somewhere that they are NOT compatible.

Just trying to see what I can do to make things work- and use what I have, if possible.

No, IME, the old and new Medela bottles, rings and nipples are NOT compatible. I could pump into the new or old bottles with my PIS but I transferred milk to other bottles for feeding.

We used Dr. Brown's for Ds2 (I EP'd for him and then we used formula). With Ds3 I am nursing, pumping and using Mam anti-colic bottles for day care. All of my children have been very picky about bottles and nipples s we've tried a lot over the years (avent, glass evenflo, born free, playtex drop-ins. dr brown's wide and narrow). Do you plan to nurse at all? That makes a huge difference for keeping up supply and pumping has been easier with each baby.

You need new wide rings to go with the new wide nipples. But then they will fit on the older bottles. You can buy an accessory kit in a little mesh bag of the new "wide" products.
