soft boots and shoes for 6 mo. old? Upstate NY

I am looking for comfortable shoes and boots that will be easy to get on a squirmy 6 mo old baby that loves to kick constantly. If I manage to get shoes on her (usually don't) they get kicked off. I would prefer something with out difficult laces, but something that will stay on well.
I saw Ugg boots on Oprah the other day they look comfy and a woman in a store said they will be getting Robeez in. Has anyone had any experience with these.
I almost ordered some Ugg's but I wasn't sure which size. My dd has big feet! So I couldn't possibly go by 0-6, or 6-12. Right now I have her in 12-24 mo socks but they are a teeny bit big.
We live in Upstate New York and it will be getting very cold pretty soon. It already has been getting a little cold.
