DD1 is not a big kid...I think she is 5-60th percentile for both height and weight. She will be 4 years old later this month.
The crotch strap on the Blvd is JUST TOO SHORT. or too far back? Either way, we're going to have to get her a new seat soon, despite the fact that she loves her Blvd. I like the Frontier but am reticent to go to another Britax for fear will have the same issue. Ideas? Next seat recs?

I think our Frontier has 3 positions on the strap. We love it. DS has it set to the middle position. DS is 4.5. Not sure how many slots the Boulevard has.

Do have fr and nautilus. Fr crotch strap very adjustable. Hate crotch strap on nautilus. Also hate latch mechanism.

The frontier has 3 positions and goes way out there and the strap is much longer than the convertibles. I can't imagine a 4 -6 year old wouldn't fit comfortably.

Here is what I would do.
If you like her current BLVD I would buy her a BLVD70, which has two crotch spaces. I would cease using her old BLVD for the time being and put it away for the baby or move the baby to it if she is ready for it. When she finally outgrows the seat then move it to your DH's car or keep it in your car for the baby. If you need a second seat for the less driven car I'd probably get a Maestro. As much as I like the Frontier 80 as a harnessed seat, the seat even as a belted booster is a beast as well (I don't think the Frontier 85 is any lighter or easier to move quickly for carpool situations--in my case adding a low back booster to the middle seat in my Pilot), and honestly up until about 3 weeks ago (although the last time we did use it as a belted booster was last October) DD1 had a hard time buckling herself in. So then when the BLVD is outgrown your DD1 should be ready for belted booster. Right now the Britax BLVD 70 is on sale for $219 (Onyx) or $235 for the new brown Aztec print. I posted a photo of 5 yr. old 42" and 40lb DD1 in DD2's BLVD70 when I first got it and Jools commented that DD1 still had at least another year in the seat, and probably would have made it to at least 4 rfing in the seat. I can PM you a copy of the photo if you would like. |
