Unless you are picky about colors, I would just buy a multipack of boys' undershirts. If there is some sort of discount store in your area, that's even better. I had to buy a white shirt (my boys never wear white, for obvious reasons) for DS2's tie dye fun day and basically I bought a 3 pk of boys medium undershirts for like $2 at Gabriel Brothers! It said that they were irregular, but I looked at them and could not figure out what was irregular about them. Basically, as long as they didn't have holes or have some really weird stitching, I was ok with it. Now I have extras, b/c it always seems like we have at least another tie dye event some time in the summer too. Are the kids pitching in toward the cost of the shirt?

I wish we had Gabriel Bros. We just have your usual B&M stores... Target, KMart, Kohls, Michaels, A C Moore,...

Default Shirts

Michaels has 5 for $9.XX, I think I will do that. Undershirts at Target are cheaper, but are 100% out of the size I want to get for a majority of the kids - and I need @30! May go get 2 sets of colored shirts from Michaels and not tye dye them. Rain plan could be to have the kids decorate. We'll see. Running out of time and energy, and business travel again b4 the party.

Can you do a rain plan of doing hand prints on the shirts instead if you can't tie dye them? DS2 came home today with his tie dyed shirt (looks great, today's the last day of school), and they did the tie dye two wks ago. I know it's probably too late to squeeze in an earlier tie dye date, but if you want a less messy project, I'd just do a hand print stamp on the colored shirts, if that's all that's available. I bet that it's pretty common this time of yr for white undershirts to get sold out, due to all the tie dying classroom parties, lol.

You can also "tye-dye" with Sharpies and rubbing alcohol. it's a lot less messy and can be done inside if need be.

Also works great for younger kids....they just "draw" and then spary with rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle.
