Default Removing base of Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite

I'm in a process of removing the car seat cover of Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite and looking at the manual here, I need to remove the seat base and the harness in order to do so. It's been half an hour and I still couldn't figure out how. It seemed so simple in the manual, but I couldn't find where is the "tab A" on the right of the base to remove the bar. It's such a pain just to remove a cover! geez!

Have anyone own this car seat done this before ? Please help. DD puked and I need to wash the cover and put the car seat back or we are not going anywhere. Thank you!!

There's a metal bar running from side to side, it sticks out a tiny bit where the tabs are. If you can see a shiny bar, you'll know where the tab is...? (I was hoping there was a youtube video but I couldn't find one). I'm not sure why the manual says it has to come off to get the cover off, since the new seats don't even allow the base to come off, and it's otherwise the same seat...strange!

Now I wonder if that's the case with mine, the base won't come off. I included a photo of the base and I do see the metal bar running from side to side , but I just don't see a tab where it says I need to push down. Looking at it, there's no way the bar can be removed.

I ended up just wiping them clean :/ I regretted getting this car seat. Never thought it would be un-removable because common sense told me this thing should be removable ! oh well!

Yup, that seat doesn't get much love on this board for many reasons, I guess ease of removal of cover is another one.

How was your long flight with the toddler?
