No suggestions, but thanks for starting this thread. I am interested in the alternative suggestions provided to try before going a route with meds. So many of us are right there with you. It's exhausting, isn't it?

I have never learned the BBB skill of multi-quoting, so this will have to do. Yes, JT's mom I sure wish kids came with an indicator light AND a chrystal ball.

It is so exhausting and difficult to make these decisions that can effect their long-term lives in ways it can be impossible to predict.

No kidding! We have these kids, they have stuff going on with them that half the time, no two professionals will even label the same way, let alone agree on how to treat. We have to try to figure out how to navigate life with them, while simultaneously trying to figure out how best to treat them. There are a million options, it's practically impossible to learn about them all, and there are no set instructions for how to implement them, and once you figure it all out, something shifts, and you're back to square one. Oh yeah, and there's that fun little fact that the stakes couldn't be much higher.

Pass them around ladies-

This articulates my biggest frustrations with Lyme treatment too. All of the professionals disagree and the protocols of what works vary depending on countless factors (co-infections, duration of infection, immune system, genetic vulnerabilities). What works for one person does not work for others. To make things more complicated, Lyme symptoms tend to wax/wane regardless of treatment course so we are constantly second guessing our decisions. Yes, wine is in order.

Mel, every time I think about what you went through when you were initially trying to figure out what was going on, my head practically explodes. You actually knew your stuff well enough to have the correct theory, ASKED THEM TO DO THE TESTS, and still didn't get the help you needed. The way everyone seemed to act like what your DS was going through was no big deal... I can't even put it into words. Your story is one I'll never forget as long as I live.
