Default Cape cod or other New England beach vacation ideas

We just got home from Marco Island and DH and I need something to look forward to. We live in RI so we were thinking about a week in the Cape or somewhere else within driving distance. We stayed at the Blue water resort a few years ago and it was nice but I wanted to see if anyone had other suggestions. I would really like something on the beach with a pool too. Any suggestions?
Edited to add that we will have DS who is 5 with us as well!

How about renting a house? Its getting pretty close to the summer but maybe there is something left? We've used HomeAway.com before with great success.

I just used vrbo for the first time a few days ago, to rent a house on the cape in July. If you want the beach and a pool option, I'd look at renting an Ocean Edge property.

Well, we love Block Island, which is right in your backyard. We haven't stayed right on the beach there, though.

do you know of any nice hotels/motels? I's so hard when everything is small and privately owned. I would LOVE to do Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard

Winnetau on the Vineyard is a great family resort. My friend loved her hotel in Nantucket last summer (waiting to hear back from her for name) and the new The Nantucket should be open. Prolly $$ (new). You could also rent a house/cottage depending on where u want to stay. Home away.com and they have brokers that deal with just either place. GOOD LUCK!!

I'd love the name when you find out. I am going to check on that other hotel and rentals now!

Ocean Edge in Brewster, MA on the Cape is great. If you stay on the mansion side you get beach access. If you stay on the golf course side you can go to any of the Brewster or local beaches with a parking pass. 5 minute ride.

Both sides of OE you can get pool access.
