I would watch the prices on amazon and zappos. I bet they have them on sale again soon.

    SHOCKED!

I am going to turn my heat up, stay in my house, and go barefoot.
Yeah, if I lived in OK, I probably wouldn't invest in Patagonia/Sorel/Keen/La Canadienne either. But here in Chicago, warm fashion is key. For example, last year the median December high was 19. But inside my feet stay toasty warm in my Haflinger clogs (which were more than my Sorel boots).

I don't like their ad campaign, so I wouldn't buy a pair, but I'm telling you, that is a very good price for these boots, and boots like them. It really, truly is.

Yeah, half of the time I am still wearing sandals in November. I spent around $10 on Land's End boots for the kids last year and they got worn maybe once, thus the boot sticker shock!

I have reverse sticker shock I guess. Those are the cheapest pair of nice snow boots I have seen. I only invest in nice shoes because I am always walking in Chicago and wear my shoes for years.

re: wearing Sorels just out and about... where do you buy THICK leggings. I had some really nice wool blend long underwear to wear skiing as a kid so I'm thinking of something like that but a little more leggings as pants appropriate.

to wear with knee high socks and a long sweater like this:
