white noise machine picks up a radio station

Hi all,

We have a Brookstone white noise machine, the one for baby: http://www.brookstone.com/tranquil-m...lax|L1_Bedroom

we got it for DD and it always played a radio station in the background, but you usually couldn't really hear it unless you put your hand near the machine. Well, now you can hear it all the time. It is SO annoying! It is driving me crazy!!!

Does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

If not, I read below that everyone recommends something called marpac? Or maybe I just need to set up an ipod with speakers and a white noise track on repeat?

Sorry I am no help with the white noise machines. We had an old iPod and speakers laying around so I downloaded rainforest white noise for 99 cents and that's our white noise for dd. It has worked well for us and since I just repurposed equipment we already owned it was a cheap solution.

Does the radio station keep your DD awake? I think I would count my blessings if she sleeps and put up with it - but I don't know what station it's playing either!

Does DD need the white noise?

We bought a Marpac about a month ago, and it is great! Since it is a mechanical white noise (fan type thing inside the box), and not electronic, it is pure white noise, no interference or "ghost" noises.

I should have clarified to say that it's in DS's room now. I'm not sure if it wakes him up or keeps him up. He sure isn't that great of a sleeper. I think it is me that finds it more annoying than him! I think I'll look into one of the solutions you all have suggested here. It doesn't seem like it can be fixed. I tried putting it in different places in the room and no luck. Still hearing music! Thanks, all!
