Default Playtex drop-ins question

I used Dr. Brown's with DS. He hardly ever took a bottle, but after 3.5 years of sitting in a drawer, the inserts and things for the bottles are cracking/splitting. Instead of replacing the parts, I thought I might try a different bottle with DD. Lots of you seem to recommend the drop-ins. My question is can you store milk in the drop-in bags? Can you pump into them, freeze them? Please let me know how the system works. Thanks!

Yes, you can pump into them and freeze in them. They make a special connector so you can pump in directly, and there's special lids so you can freeze them. If you're a SAHM and only going to be freezing a few ounces here and there, this will be awesome for you. If you WOH or need to freeze a lot of milk, then be aware that it will get expensive to buy lots of the freezer lids, and that the frozen drop-ins take up much more space than freezing in bags. We use drop-ins and I really like them, but I don't freeze in them because I WOH and store too much. Oh -- and another thing to be aware of if you freeze in them...they take *a long time* to thaw....much longer than if the milk is frozen in bags.

I read somewhere that you can put BM storage bags (i.e. Lansinoh or Medela) in the drop-in bottles, instead of the drop-in bags. Anyone ever done this? That would be awesome if it works since you'd still have all the advantages of the BM freezer bags.

Yep...we used the Lansinoh bags directly in the bottles. Worked great!

With DS I pumped into bottles and when I had amassed enough milk, I froze it in trays that created 2oz tubes of frozen milk. It was really compact to store that way, and the frozen tubes thawed quickly. I've never used the bags. Can you pump directly into them? How?

I meant the Lansinoh or Medela bags. I use an Ameda pump.
