Default co-sleeper question

did you actually use the strap to attach the co-sleeper to your bed? or dd you use a stand-alone bassinet?

i'm torn b/c i like the idea of having the baby so close, but i don't see how i could have them attached right to my side and still be able to use a cover of some sort. and i cannot sleep without at least a sheet on me

but if the co-sleeper is attached, i would be totally paranoid that the sheet would possibly dip down and cover the baby

what did you do?

thanks

with DS i think we attached the Arm's Reach Cosleeper (we had the mini). Honestly it was kind of annoying, i hated scooting down everytime i had to get out of bed (which was often in the first few weeks!).And having it attached to bed didn't make it easier for me..i still had to get out of bed and stand to get him when he cried.

So with DD she slept in the cosleeper, but we did not attach it to our bed...we just kept it close to our bed. It worked so much better. I still could see her from the bed, yet i felt more comfortable with it not being attached. I too worried about accidentally kicking or hitting baby in my sleep when it was attached.

If you don't attach it to the bed, I suppose you could use a standalone bassinet or PNP for same purpose...though our bassinet was did not have that great visibility from the side. And the PnP in bassinet mode was kind of wobbly to me, plus it was very big...DS did not like sleeping in it, as it was too vast. The arm's reach mini cosleeper worked great for us for night use, felt very sturdy, and both babies liked to sleep in it.

i also liked the high weight limit of mini cosleeper... i think it is 25 lbs. I think PnP bassinet mode weight limit (and our standalone bassinet) is only 15 lbs, which my DS exceeded when he was 2-3 mos already, so it didnt' last as long.

We have ours attached. I also use a blanket, and it doesn't get into the co-sleeper. We have the edge of our comforter ending at my end of the bed, and it doesn't reach into the cosleeper.

Attached for us. We just pulled all the covers so they hung over DHS side of the bed and only came far enough to cover me but didn't reach all the way to the co-sleeper. It took some getting used to, to get in and out of bed with it attached but it wasn't too bothersome. Though if I had a c-section I'm sure it would have been harder.

I had a c-section, and having the cosleeper attached hasn't been a big deal for me.
