Default Palm Springs/Palm Desert?

We are going to visit DH's grandparents in early June in Palm Desert. I know it is going to be insanely hot, but it's the only time we can go. We're trying to figure out where to stay and what to do if we stay for two nights. We're definitely going to the Living Desert.

Any suggestions? Hotels good for kids? We want something with a kid-friendly pool.

We love the Renaissance Esmeralda in Indian Wells. Its our go-to resort in Palm Springs. Great pool, outdoor seating, and kids activities on the weekends (like movies n the pool, bug hunt, contests, etc)

I've heard nothing but great things about the Living Desert. You could do the arial tramway http://www.pstramway.com/

We went to La Quinta over the 4th of July 2 years ago ... my sister rented a great house. It was so hot we literally just stayed at the house the entire long weekend (made one run to the grocery store). The kids just wanted to be in the pool for hours and then would come in to eat, watch a little tv and relax and then wanted back in the pool. When it's that hot you either need indoors with A/C or to be in a pool!

My sister recently stayed at the Westin in Rancho Mirage (next to Palm Desert), and there was a great pool with a slide for the kids. I don't know what else they had, but the videos she posted on FB showed a slide with my very happy niece and nephew using it.

Her kids like the Children's Museum in Palm Springs because it has lots of hands on exhibits. It's really not for older kids (9 and up), but it's a good change of pace after they have been sitting in the car for a while. http://www.cdmod.org/
