Default What's your "go to" dessert?

We're going to a friend's for dinner tonight. I can't decide what I want to take. Probably because I have an insane sweet tooth and want to take EVERYTHING!

So what's your favorite to make for others at home or when going somewhere?

Hot milk cake, extra yummy served with berries, ice cream and or whipped cream. Easy and apparently unusual as everyone always asks me what it is, how to make it, etc.

ETA. Here's a link to a recipe I have successfully used: http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Hot-Milk-Cake. (I actually did cupcakes with this most recently.)

What does it taste like? Pound Cake?

I think that's the closest analogy. It is a bit lighter and coarser than pound cake if that makes any sense at all. It is my favorite cake. It isn't really meant to be iced, though I have done that. It is best with fresh berries and ice cream (and whipped cream if you want) or all on its own.

Fall/Winter-- Apple Cake (not a Jewish-style apple cake-- a recipe of my mom's that's very moist and dark, with cinnamon and other spices-- great with freshly whipped cream on top)

Spring/Summer-- Lemon Squares or Pound Cake with Citrus Glaze
