Default Anybody have a Senseo?

DH is in need of a new coffeemaker - he has 1-2 cups every morning. We were thinking about a Senseo - does anyone have one? Is it hard to find the pods? Does it brew quickly? Make good coffee? Is it easy to clean? TIA!!

Ry, I don't own a Senseo, but I have heard decent things about them. I was selected a while ago to receive a bunch of Senseo stuff free, (well, free after shipping & handling), but I haven't sent away for it. Here's what you get:

Quote:
This promotion provides a special Share Senseo® kit, which includes:

* FREE Senseo® Coffee Pod System
* Bag of Senseo® coffee pods
* Senseo® Coffee Pod Canister for easy pod storage and long-lasting freshness
* 5 $20-off Senseo® coffee machine cards to share with friends and family

As a participant of the Share Senseo® promotion, you will receive over $70 worth of Senseo® products for FREE (plus $15 S&H) to enjoy with your friends and family!
If you are interested, PM me. I'll e-mail you the link. It's not some hokey thing, either. It was a promotion they had a while back that I found in the Bargains forum.

We have had one since last Christmas and love it. My DH uses it most...every morning. The pods aren't hard to find. We get them at whatever grocery store we're at. Target has them. Not all places have all kinds and you might have trouble finding one of the less popular blends but we know who stocks what now. DH doesn't clean it...ever. I'll take it apart every month or so and give it a good scrubbing. It's simple. We got ours from Amazon when they were running it on a Friday sale I think.

Thanks for posting this...I've been thinking of buying one too.

The biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make...I did not live in the moment enough. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less. - Anna Quindlen

I bought one but it sits in my garage. I LOVE coffee and I find my self making 3 or more of "their" size cups per day. I bought a regular coffee maker/ with a carafe that works much better for us.

We have one, the basic model, from the same promotion Kelli referred to. DH is the coffee drinker and had previously been using a french press and a regular coffee maker. The way his schedule works out, the Senseo is nice because he can have a fresh cup at odd hours instead of having to make (and clean) a pot. The Senseo works fine, cleans up easily, and the coffee is fine with us. The other more deluxe models come with a bigger water tank, but you can purchase it separately for the basic model. That said, the smaller tank has been fine. If we were going to be making coffee for a crowd we'd use the regular coffee maker. For every day, though, the Senseo has been nice. We're actually considering one for MIL for her birthday next month.

The pods have been easy to find, but we did some online reading and found a way to make them ourselves that works fine. It took a little tweaking for DH to get the "right" amount of coffee, but now he can use whatever coffee he's in the mood for and not just what Senseo offers. He likes it b/c he can use unbleached filters, fair trade & organic coffee, etc.

Here are the instructions we found: http://www.rainbowpediatrics.net/horwitz/Senseo.html

My mom received one from the last promotion and she loves it. It makes a really hot cup of coffee, but you would need 2 pods to make a very large cup of coffee.

A coworker of mine uses the Keurig coffee system and she loves it.

HTH!

I got one with the promotion and I do like the actual unit, but I don't like there coffee. I prefer the beans that I grind myself. I haven't experimented with making my own pods, which I may try. Right now it is just sitting in the basement.

We don't have a Senseo, but we do have a Keurig - the B60, and DH loves it. I like it too - it does have pods for tea and cocoa, but I mostly use it for hot water.

I'm not sure if the Senseo has this option, but with the Keurig, you can get this little pod that you can put your own coffee in - so you don't always have to use the pods. DH probably uses his own coffee about 50% of the time.

Whichever way you go, check out getting the pods on Amazon - they usually have good prices.
