Default CRIB MATTRESSES

Anyone know anything/have experience with a "Dream On Me" -

From what the salesperson told me (I'm in NYC) - this is "better" than the Colgate I. Can someone explain... the criticism was that the COlgate was TOO hard. This woman wasn't even trying to sell the more expensive mattress (Dream on Me) is actually a bit less than the Colgate.

Any ideas??? Suggestions?????

Default RE: CRIB MATTRESSES

Conventional wisdom on mattresses is that they should be as hard as you are willing to let your baby sleep on. Babies' bones are soft and they need the support. The Colgates are very firm. Again, according to the most recent ideas, you should get the most firm mattress that you can find. Babies adjust to this and are supposed to sleep well on them. The firm mattress along with a properly fitted sheet and nothing else in the crib is also supposed to reduce the chances of SIDS. The Colgate does not conform around anything that's on it. Press your hand down on other mattresses and you can see how the mattress will conform around your hand.

I don't know much about the "Dream on Me" but if it is firm and cheaper then go with it.
