Default Moving from 2T to 3T in Gymbo

I am trying to get some good deals on Gymbo outfits for DD for spring/summer 2005! Right now she is wearing 18-24 months in tops and dresses, still 12-18 in pants. She will turn 2 in November. So I figure she'll probably be in 2T in November 2004. but for how long? Until Nov 2005?

Do you think I should buy stuff in 2T for spring 2005 or should I just go for 3T?

When do kids generally move into 3T?

I realize all kids are different but I am used to the 0-3, 3-6, 6-12, 12-18, 18-24 month size guidelines.

Thanks :)

Well, this is just a guess... Kaitlin will also be 2 in Nov. & is wearing the same sizes as your dd. I am buying her 2T for next spring & summer. She is tall but thin so I think it will work. HTH!

Keep in mind also that a lot of summer stuff (t-shirts, dresses, etc.) can be bought big. If they are a little long it won't matter as much as with shorts or a long-sleeved item.

But the golden rule of buying ahead is don't spend more than you are willing to donate/EBay if the sizing doesn't work out.

Ds started wearing 2T around when he turned 2 in Nov. Huge surprising growth spurt after I just bought some winter stuff in 18-24 and Hanna size 80! Now, 5 months later, 2T still fits but b/c of our long summers here, I'm buying everything in size 3T. It all still fits, maybe a little big, but doesn't swallow him or look poorly, IMHO.

I find it very difficult to judge sizes ahead of time. It truly depends on your child. My DD is 3 and wears 2T or 3T in tops at Gymbo but 18-24 month pants. The pants are now too short but I can not go larger due to the waist. So we are wearing 2 or 3T leggings instead. Your child will grow slower after the age of 2 so judge by what they are wearing now. Nothing is a bargain if you don't use it next year.

Granted Colin is a boy and 90th percentile for height, but he's in 2T's now and will likely move to 3T's by the winter (if he continues to follow the growth charts).

I'd suggest that you look at the growth charts and follow your daughter's percentile out to next summer. Don't necessarily assume that she will stay in 2T's for a whole year unless you don't care if she wears the clothes or not. With the little information you gave us, I'd personally buy nothing smaller than 3T for next summer.

Well, we sort of missed the whole 2T sizing at Gymbo. By the time she outgrew her 18-24 month stuff, she could fit fine in Gymbo 3T. But that was old style 18-24 months sizing and new style 3T sizing. We skipped a few seasons at Gymbo when there was nothing I liked there.

But in general, DD started wearing 2T pants in winter 2003, when she was around 18 months. She had a growth spurt about 3 months ago and is now in 3T stuff. Generally, 3T is MUCH longer than 2T so it only really makes a difference for pants. So for summer stuff like shorts, it doesn't make that much difference. For example, last summer, she could wear a lot of different sizes in shorts, shirts and bathing suits, anywhere from 2T to 5T depending on the cut and the style.

So honestly, I wouldn't buy that much stuff ahead. You never know when they are going to hit that length growth spurt.

HTH,
