Default Good quality, inexpensive warm winter coat?

I am in search of a warmer winter coat, but do not want to pay a ton...does anyone have recommendations for where to look (either online or real store is fine). Though quality is the top concern, style is not too far behind :). Also, the coat is for a baby girl--about a year old...Thanks!

Last year DS had one from Old Navy. I think it was in the $20 range. It was okay, and although I'm not sure I would buy one again for a preschooler in South Dakota, I think it would be plenty warm for a 1 year old who isn't playing outside for hours on end.

Keep an eye on LL Bean's sale page and Lands' End's overstocks page. I got my DS a Katahdin Parka from LL Bean last year for $24.95, and I bought it big enough to fit him this year too. They always seem to have more girl colors then boy's too. Good luck!

You may want to also check the sales at some of the larger department stores. I bought a Columbia coat that usually runs for $100 for $40 at Carsons in Chicago. They had the coats on sale and then offered an additional 25% off if you brought in an old coat for goodwill.

I really liked Columbia's coats because of the wind guard that they had around the face plus they also had adjustible arm lengths.

Gap is having a sale on their outerwear right now! I know the boys' Warmest Jacket is on sale for $39.95.

We've gotten nice fleece (Columbia) at TJMaxx/Marshall's in years past. I saw Ralph Lauren Parkas in a TJM near Boston in early September for $19.99 (though these would not work for the carseat, whereas the fleece would).

Good luck,

Mary

I bought a nice puffy jacket with fleece lining at TJmax for my nephew. It was Eddie Bauer and very nice quality for $20! I shipped it to her b/c it was such a good deal. I have yet to find Eddie Bauer kids clothes anywhere, so I don't know where the ones that pop up at TJ max are coming from, but hey, it was a nice coat.

We got a nice one for DD last year at JC Penney's. I don't know the brand...it was a jacket with hood, mitten clip-ons, and snow pants with bootie clip-ons. I think it was regularly $60 on sale for $40. It still fits her this year and I love that it has snow pants since she and DH go out in the wagon every day to walk the dog and I felt more comfortable with her little legs all bundled up, too.
